ENCORE, ODYSSEY

Encore, Odyssey is an installation containing books, photographs and the audio piece. At the heart of it stands the collection of books acquired from two second-hand bookshops in Montreal, Encore and Odyssey, over a 7-year period. Every book in the set has a date inscribed by a reader in a different year of the 20th century, to form a sum-total of 100 books. Additionally, most books carry reader's name while others have more elaborate inscriptions such as personal dedications, ex-libris labels, attached letters and notes, some of which indicate that the book had multiple owners.

The audio track (1h13min) is the compilation of paragraphs, one from each book, read by jake moore, recorded and edited into a new narrative. The audio plays in the gallery space.
